The Hispanic Resource Center Moves Back in After
Three Month Displacement
POSTED: JANUARY 2012
The Hispanic Resource Center of Larchmont & Mamaroneck (HRC) suffered significant damage from the hurricane in August, losing all of its donated furniture inherited a little over a year ago when the agency moved into its new office on Mamaroneck Avenue. Floors, walls, carpeting and furniture all had to be replaced. However, HRC was able to continue to provide services to its clients, including helping those who also suffered losses from the flood, thanks to the generosity of local organizationsand donors.
OnWednesday, December 21st, HRC hosted a Thank You Breakfast for the local organizations that provided them with office space during the three months the agency was displaced due to damage from Hurricane Irene. The breakfast was held to show HRC’s deep gratitude to those organizations who so graciously stepped forward and opened their doors: Washingtonville Housing Alliance, The Guidance Center-Mamaroneck Clinic, Mamaroneck Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mamaroneck Library, and CAP Center. HRC staff cooked a delicious breakfast andtraditional Mexican hot chocolate for its generous neighbors. The breakfast also allowed these community leaders to interact and get to know one another better.
HRC moved back into its renovated offices and has reinstated most programs such as English as a Second Language, adult literacy, computer classes and social services. For information call 914-835-1512.
