Posto 22 has become a vibrant 100-seat addition to the downtown New Rochelle dining scene, on Division St. right across from Avalon On The Sound East, with French doors that spill out onto the street, a cozy sparkling marble top bar/lounge with TV, bistro yellow and burgundy walls and tile floors with wood chairs and trim, artsy wine bottles architecturally lined on shelves, Crate & Barrel mirrors with just the right sconce lighting accents.
Good starters on the regular menu include: Mini Meatballs made with pork, veal and beef served with a tomato sauce; Flat Bread Pizza, topped with garden tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, garlic and fresh basil; and Arancini Siciliana, fried risotto balls stuffed with Fontina cheese and prosciutto with marinara sauce. Overstuffed sandwiches include such classics as: Pepper, Egg and Potato Panini; and Grilled Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Fresh Mozzarella and Ricotta Panini.
Fresh Pastas include a delicious version of Orecchiette with broccoli rabe and ground sausage in garlic and oil; Lobster Ravioli in a champagne sauce with shrimp and wild mushrooms; homemade Lasagna prepared the old-fashioned way with layers of ground meat, ricotta, mozzarella and tomato sauce; and homemade Gnocchi.
Hearty chicken, veal, fish and steak include: Parmesan Crusted Halibut, pan-seared, parmesan crusted over a bed of spinach and potatoes; Chicken Capriciossa, breaded chicken cutlets topped with fresh arugula, red onion and tomato vinaigrette; Pork Chops sautéed in a white wine sauce smothered in garlic and vinegar peppers, served with potatoes; Veal Florentine, over sautéed spinach in a lemon white wine sauce topped with mozzarella; and Black Angus Steak served with garlic mashed and string beans. The thin crusted pizzas are loaded and served on metal stands.
There is an extensive catering menu for all types of on and off-premise functions and a new private party room with a view dubbed ‘Top of the Roc’ across the street in the Avalon.
Popular weekly specials here include: a daily $10.95 Express Lunch, and Fixed Price Monday Dinners, incl. appetizer, entrée and dessert for $26. Wine Down Tuesdays gets you 50% off any bottle or glass of wine and no corkage fee if you bring your own bottle; Sangria Wednesdays comes with 50% off pitchers or by the glass, red or white; and on Thirsty Thursdays you can get $3 three-olive martinis and mixed drinks all night.
