The “Candy Man” Goes To Central School

In mid-November, the Central School Theatre Arts Program, sponsored by the PTA, presented a musical production of Willy Wonka Junior, based on the book Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl.

Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous Candy Man and his quest to find an heir came to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which features the songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Lyrics by Anthony Newley. Music by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

The Central School production was directed and produced by KJK Productions, led by Kevin J. Kearins. Two casts, consisting of 170 Central School students, gave two performances each on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20. The sold-out performances were enthusuactically received by parents, siblings, grandparents, teachers and Oompa-Loompas of all ages.

Some of the most memorable songs from the show were: The Candy Man, Pure Imagination, Golden Age of Chocolate, Oompa-Loompa and Think Positive.
